About Kay
When I was a little girl, people would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up. Every time I would answer, "I want to help deliver babies!" For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a part of that special, intimate time of welcoming a new baby in to the world. I have always been fascinated with the amazing miracle of pregnancy and birth, and I am blessed every time I am involved in that season of a woman's life.
Don't you see that children are God's best gift? The fruit of the womb His generous legacy?
I am the mother of two wonderful children-a son born in 1996 and a daughter born in 1998. I was a stay at home mom for many years. When my children were a little older, I went to nursing school. I became a nurse in 2004. I attended my first birth in August 1998, not knowing at the time that I was serving as a doula. Since then, I have attended many births, first as a "birth coach", then as a nursing student while doing my clinical rotations, and now as a doula.
I hold certifications in the following areas:
I am working on the requirements to become a certified teen educator (CCTE) through CAPPA and an Advanced Women's Herbal and Aromatherapy course. I serve as a Regional Representative on CAPPA's Leadership Board. We are a homeschooling family and we are very active in our church and community. I currently work at a local pregnancy center as a client advocate and educator.
